We feel like we should like this gown more than we actually do.

It’s got some interesting details and we can’t really make the claim that it looks bad on her. It’s just that we tend to expect her to wear things with a bit more oomph to them than this. The collar is interesting, as is the molded detail on the hip, but there’s a little too much pulling around both elements. When we look at the look book shots below, it comes off so much more dramatic somehow, which is strange to us because she’s always been great about working dramatic looks. Part of our ambivalence might come down to the color, which is eye-catching, but doesn’t photograph well. We also tend to think it would look better on her with her hair worn up or back. The collar and shoulders are two of the more interesting elements in an otherwise minimal design. Play them up, we say. We also think she could’ve used some killer earrings and a bangle rather than that watch, which does nothing for the look. We feel bad! We’re being so critical and we don’t hate this, we swear! It’s just a little underwhelming and the styling doesn’t do much for it. Here’s your chance to defend it or to tell us we’re right.
