Let’s close out this pre-Oscars week with the last of the non-Oscars-related red carpetry still left in our folders, shall we? These stars tried and that’s what counts. Haha, not really. Let’s see how they did.
Alana Haim in Marni
If it didn’t have the cutouts, we’d love this unreservedly. The colors look great on her.
Chrissy Teigen in Givenchy
Sure. Okay. It’s not memorable, but it’s inoffensively low-key cute and well suited to her.
Eiza González in Del Core
This dress and its ability to make her invisible on the red carpet may just be the reason why she went suddenly blonde this week.
Himesh Patel in Ozwald Boateng
Such a great look. That shirt coordinated perfectly with the suit and the colors look amazing on him.
Hunter Schafer in Prada
It’s weird enough that we almost love it.
Jake Gyllenhaal in Gucci
We can’t help thinking he’s getting some bad advice lately. His whole affect is so laid back that looks like these just come off ill-suited to him.
Jake Gyllenhaal in Dunhill
This is pretty great, though. It’s simple and it’s got the kind of cut that allows him to slump on the red carpet, which he tends to do. The roomy suit really is back.
Jared Leto in Gucci
We believe we made our feelings on the matter sufficiently evident in our previous email.
Kat Graham in Celia Kritharioti
We love the idea of this one more than the reality. That top doesn’t look… we don’t know, rich enough? Love the skirt and overall color story and design.
Kelly Clarkson in Monique Lhuillier
This would be a much better design without the wide plunging neckline.
Kristen Stewart in Alessandra Rich
She only wears the fun looks when they look her in a hotel room and make her do press. This is cute.
Naomi Watts in Magda Butrym
Ooooh, ma’am. The lighting here is clearly suboptimal, but your makeup team let you down and this outfit photographs terribly.
Olivia Rodrigo in Fancì Club
If Disneyworld had a strip joint, this how the waitresses would all be required to dress.
Pablo Schreiber
The overall style peaked about three years ago, but he looks fine.
Pamela Anderson
Pam’s back out in the world again, about to make her Broadway debut in Chicago and trying to take back her narrative after the Pam & Tommy series mined her life for drama. We would never expect her to wear something demure or low-key. She is who she is. The proportions on the dress feel way off and those shoulder things look really annoying to wear, but she’s Pam and she’s still serving in painful shoes, just as God intended her to be.
Rueby Wood in Sophia Nubes
And thus was the design philosophy dubbed “Disney Bizarre” born, in the dawning decades of the 21st Century. Respect for bringing the weird to a Disney jawn.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
He gave up.
