Current acting power couple Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz waltzed out onto the Goya Awards red carpet, positively glowing with awards season success. To paraphrase Mel Brooks, it’s good to be the nominee. Just look at those smiles. Now look at their clothes:

He looks fine, if his usual rumpled self. Let’s face it, if he stepped out wrinkle-free with not a hair out of place, we all wouldn’t recognize him. We don’t love black formal dress shirts, but he’s well suited to it. He also handles that not-quite double-breasted cut well.

She’s a ride-or-die Chanel queen (meaning, she’s got a contract) but like er Chanel sister Kristen Stewart, the house does her wrong about as often as they get it right. This is rather sweetly pretty in a slightly uncharacteristic way for the house. The floral applique on the straps strikes us a little too cutesy for Chanel and what they did to the hem is kind of horrifying. The skirt clearly doesn’t travel well and we think it might have been more interesting if the dress was in a color with a bit more oomph to it. On the other hand, it’s pretty perfect for Valentine’s Day, so we’ll give her points for timeliness.
