Newly minted SAG Award 2022 nominee Caitriona Balfe strutted out onto the Colbert set in what we can only call a victory lap of a dress. This doesn’t so much mean that it’s a fabulous dress (be warned) as it means it’s a really loud, showy, celebratory one.
Yes, it’s that goofy Loewe dress with the leg cutout that no one uses. Except for being glittery and colorful, which is never a bad thing, in our opinion, this is what we’d call an unwearable dress. Wear it as designed and it looks goofy as hell; refuse to wear it as designed and it looks… pretty much equally as goofy. We guess it’s mitigated somewhat when she’s seated, even if the cutout looks odd. Despite thinking all of this, we actually don’t mind it. Like we said, it’s colorful and sparkly. You can’t say it’s not memorable or doesn’t keep all eyes on her. She’s still got her modeling skills, which she puts to good use whenever she chooses weird or goofy items, as she often does. We guess if we had to sum up our feelings here (you may have noticed we have a lot of them), we don’t necessarily like the design of this dress but we do like that someone on the Oscar track has decided to be weird about her campaign style, if that makes any sense.
