When Megan Fox was asked how her Dundas gown reflected the theme of the Met Gala, she replied that it was “on an American girl.” We note this only to reiterate that you can get lost in the weeds of trying to parse these looks, but a good number of the celebrity attendees of any Met Gala are far more interested in looking amazing and snagging the spotlight than they are in appropriately reflecting the occasion or the venue. Anyway, while the look may sound uncomplicated based on its wearer’s assessment of it, this gown is nowhere near minimalist in style:
It may be the best thing she’s ever worn on a red carpet. She’ll probably always default to “sexy” as her main style aesthetic and this dress manages to give her what she loves most while also looking high fashion enough to be Met Gala-ready. The side cutouts are way too large for our liking (in the sense that we don’t like them at all and wish they weren’t there), but the back view is absolutely gorgeous and all that corseting makes it feel like a very glamorous piece of fetish wear. Going for the classic Bettie Page bangs was a brilliant choice for it. The shoes and earrings are perfectly chosen. You don’t have to love the style or all of the elements, but we can’t deny it all looks spectacular on her.
