We’re always thrilled to give Issa Rae a little spotlight time to talk about her red carpet choices, which almost never manage to disappoint us. She’s got not only a great sense of style, but a true star’s understanding of what works best for her when facing the cameras. We’re say all of this because … welcome to “almost never,” we guess.
Oh, ma’am. We’re afraid not.
The color is gorgeous on her and we’re not opposed to a gal wanting to get a little feather and cutout action going on, since both elements are pretty red hot on the trend scale right now. We know a lot of folks thing underboob is an unforgivable fashion offense, but to our eyes, that’s the least of the outfit’s issues. The way the bust attaches to the shoulder is extremely awkward and unresolved, to the point that you just can’t stop looking at it. The proportions are way off, with the bust sitting too high and the hem hitting too low. We’d love to say this gives off the kind of sexified fun these elements should all be serving, but it just looks overworked and underfinished to us.
