We’ll let you in on something: All year long, when the two of us would sit and bemoan the lack of red carpets and photocalls and “Just dashing into the studio from a side door” sidewalk shots in our lives, you could always count on a small handful of names that one of us would just recite and let it hang there as an example of what we lost. Like, we’d be whining about missing Cannes or the Met Gala or a Marvel premiere and then one of us would just go “CATE BLANCHETT.” And the other would respond with a weary, “I know…”
Guess whose name came up the most often?
We don’t know what Miss L’s got on her plate (her planned Americanah adaptation with Danai Gurira got swallowed by the pandemic and her Super Sema animated series dropped on YouTube in March), but we’re assuming the Black Panther followup Wakanda Forever is gearing up for production. To be honest, we don’t care what she’s working on so long as she keeps WERQing, if you know what we meant. This isn’t even any sort of drop-dead stunner of a look; just a cute dress with even cuter hair, but it’s been a long time since we’ve had a chance to feature her and if she’s announcing a return, then we’re just here to clap and cheer.
And to note that the shoes don’t really go.
