Dopamine dressing isn’t just a trend; it’s a way of living that first gained popularity at the height of the epidemic when happiness hacks were more important than ever.

According to the hypothesis, wearing vibrant colors causes your brain to release dopamine, which uplifts your mood.

After years of delicate gold and silver dominating the style scene, the cheery style has now made its way into the world of jewelry, and designers are excited to be a little bit more fun.

With flashes of neon, candy, and sunset colors proving popular with stars and influencers this summer, the stacking and layering trend is now evolving.

Additionally, fun charms on anything from anklets to earrings are back, as are eye-catching statement pieces, which are perfect if you’re more of a minimalist when it comes to design.

So how do you style trinkets in technicolor? Should you choose a striking rainbow-colored item or pair complementing colors, such as several blue stones?

The “complementary color” rulebook is thrown out the window in the dopamine jewelry trend, according to Clio Thomas, proprietor of the fine jewelry line Clio Saskia (cliosaskia.co.uk).

“Think rich golds with blue and lilac,” and “pastel enamels with pink and green diamonds.”

King concurs, saying, “Just put it all on! I never set limits; more is more. All colors and metals. Do what brings you joy! Your ability to express yourself is more crucial than ever.”

Thomas also suggests locating accessories that go well with your skin tone: “While darker skin tones make champagne diamonds and rose gold sing, some olive skin tones bring teal and green sapphires to life in yellow gold.”

Lutz advises to “limit the quantity of various colors you chose, and play with a range of tones to create depth and layers in your ensemble if you don’t want to clash many distinct hues together.”
