Maybe it’s a French thing or maybe it’s a theater thing or maybe it’s just a Marion Cotillard thing, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that she did not resort to theme dressing to promote her upcoming turn as Joan of Arc at the Royal Theater in Madrid. Theme dressing, for those just tuning in, is when a star dresses in spider webs for her Spider-Man movie premiere or in a kitty titty dress for her turn as Catwoman in a Batman movie. Marion is clearly not that girl.
We probably should have done more to prepare you for that scrolldown surprise, but we figure the impact is all in how unexpected it is. No silver metallics or armor-like pieces for this Joan of Arc. Elephant leg jeans, please and make it snappy. The blouse is kind of cute, but mostly just okay. The chain belt and chain tie are overkill. The shoes don’t really coordinate with the style of pants at all. Having said all that, it’s eye-catching and unexpected. It pulls together more than it probably should.
