All Crawley sisters report to the red carpet, please!
If they didn’t coordinate ahead of time, this was a pretty fortunate turn of events for them. They each come off distinct and memorable in different ways, playing to different strengths. Good styling job all around, we’d say.
Laura Carmichael in Oscar de la Renta
We are not without our quibbles, however. We can only be as God made us, darlings. Nitpicky bitches till we die. Anyway, this dress is cute, but it could have used some showier jewelry and a less serious pair of shoes. Some color and sparkly would do a lot to lighten things up and possibly keep that skirt from looking too sea-weedy.
Michelle Dockery in Givenchy
We respond a bit more to Michelle’s look, if only because it’s so dramatically well suited to her. Seems a bit heavy for this time of year, even with the open back and the fit isn’t as good as it could be, we’re sorry to say. The cuffs are an interesting element, but we think we’d have preferred them with a less cuff-like neckline. Still, she look pretty great. Love the severity of the hair and makeup playing off the rather uncomplicated glamour of the gown.
