Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty line is looking forward to warmer days—and the vital new items arriving in its spring collection—as the weather cools. During a press day in New York City last month, Gomez got to show reporters around the year-old line’s new goods and offer her cosmetic tips for the first time since its introduction.
She wasn’t hesitant to go personal, openly discussing how being recognized at such a young age had an impact on her mental health and connection with beauty.
Selena Gomez said:
“I’ve worked in the beauty industry since I was seven years old.” “It kind of screwed with my head, You’re so young and then you have to work.” “I have to apply my makeup, and suddenly I can look 25 when I’m 16″.”Then I realized, ‘Oh, I always look too young.’ I need to work on that look more. ‘I should give it a go.’ It just served to make me doubt my own beauty for what it was.” Gomez says she wanted to develop a brand for others who had had similar self-doubt about their looks when she created Rare Beauty.
This spring, Rare Beauty will expand its toolkit to help consumers achieve the appearance they want. Bronzer sticks, new liquid blush hues, setting powder, and more brushes have been added to the collection to make makeup application easier. What’s next?
Selena Gomez said:
“Obviously, future items that I can’t speak about but wish I could, will also sort of bringing up the notion of being a little bit more creative with your makeup.”
