The Williams sisters did not come quietly to the premiere of King Richard, but then again, that’s hardly notable. Neither of them are exactly wallflowers when it comes to their style choices and the premiere of their father’s biopic is more than enough reason to turn up the dazzle dials.
We’re still trying to deal with the fact that we just wrote “turn up the dazzle dials” and just left it there, but we’ll press on, as we must. Besides, we think these outfits are reason enough for anyone to get a little goofy for a second, like you just got hit with a rush of sugar.
Serena Williams in David Koma
This is an absolute stunner of a design on the red carpet (see below), but it’s very much FMO – for models only. You need to be a world-class clothes-wearer walking under optimal conditions for no more than 180 seconds of public view in order to make this one work. It’s bold and we respect the choice, but she’d have been better off asking for this look in more of a full catsuit.
Venus Williams in Bach Mai
Gorgeous. No notes – except to point out that the addition of the black gloves to Serena’s outfit didn’t help it and taking them away from Venus’ made the dress a little less interesting. Still, it’s not like we can fault them for looking too low-key or generic.
