Here we see a male star opting for a little color, pattern and texture to his red carpet style. You’d think we’d be ecstatic, but no. We’re here to be whiny bitches again.

If it is possible for a man to pull off a three-piece corduroy suit, then that man is likely to be Ryan Reynolds. He has a preference for “hot professor” styles – tweeds and cords and plaids and rich colors – and we don’t see how that’s not a great idea for him, even if we tend to think it’s a pretty limiting style. Still, he doesn’t show up to his premieres looking like he worked on the film’s accounting or legal documents and for that he is to be commended. We think what’s sticking in our collective craw here are the non-suit choices. Brown suede boots with a red corduroy suit is hitting that J Crew style just a little too hard for us. And they don’t make sense with a black shirt. The tie is too matchy and businesslike. Yes, we know we’re nitpicking. It’s okay to get picky with the guys now and then. Having said that, the final call is yours.
