Lady Gaga returned to her Donatella drag for the Milan premiere of House of Gucci. We’ve said before that she could do an entire red carpet promotional tour as a series of salutes to iconic Italian women. It’s your destiny, Steffi. Embrace it.

Having said that, this is more than a little underwhelming – for her, for Versace, and for the Milan premiere, which we would have guessed to be one of the more elaborate of the premieres. She looks fantastic, but this feels very “end of the tour,” when you’ve exhausted all the more newsworthy ensembles. The dress looks great on her, but the design is very basic. In fact, the more we take this in, the more we’re inclined to say that her makeup is spectacular, that color is great on her, but everything else is so-so at best, including the wiggedy hair. She just knows how to take something basic and make it seem more dramatic than it is.
