We can’t say we gave it too much thought, but there was a time when we vaguely assumed that post-lockdown celebrity style was going to go this exact route, more or less: classic, flattering, relatively simple looks that don’t challenge anyone. But it hasn’t really shaken out that way. Celebrity style is fussier and more all over the map than ever and we half-wonder if that’s not just a general unease and anxiety expressing itself in fashion.

Whatever. As this look proves, it just doesn’t have to be that complicated. She looks absolutely stunning. Would we put this on a year-end best-dressed list? Probably not, but that was never her thing anyway. Pure beauty and glamour in the old-school sense. What we like about it is the lack of jewelry, strangely enough. There’s a sort of confident minimalism to the look that works really well for her. She’s Beyoncé. She doesn’t need to be festooned in diamonds to look good.
