The stars of Dune came out for the long-awaited world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and we are happy to report that every one of them came correct. Dune is the kind of film that pretty much demands its stars use fashion wisely in their promotional efforts. And while the men mostly stuck with classic, if perfectly rendered menswear looks (save one, of course), the ladies definitely understood the assignment and ran with it.
Dave Bautista
Double-breasted tuxes are a tough fit for any guy, but when the guy is built like a mountain, attention and respect must be paid when the fit is this good. Our only quibble is with the pants hem, which looks a little tight for him.
Josh Brolin
It’s not next-level or anything, but it’s a perfect look, perfectly done. All the men kept their shades on for the red carpet. We don’t know if that was coordinated or if they all just happened to pop edibles on the way over.
Oscar Isaac in Saint Laurent
The ensemble is acceptably fine if a little dull. The shape of the shades do no compliment his face.
Rebecca Ferguson in Dior Couture
We’re not big fans of big flowers on dresses. And we find the color combination here to be fairly odd. But damn, if she isn’t delivering drama. We think the choice of dress is commendable, but we don’t think the styling is up to it. Her hair, makeup and manicure all could have worked in service to that dress a little better. And some jewelry was called for.
Timothée Chalamet in Haider Ackermann
Taking a cue from his Aunt Tilda, not only is he turning to her go-to fave Haider Ackermann, but similar to her more ecclesiastical style preferences Prince Timmée has also taken to dressing like a gay priest. We can do little more than approve and applaud.
Zendaya in Balmain
Your girl absolutely NEVER fails to deliver. Zendaya and her style team don’t just throw on a dramatic dress and let it do all the work. They come up with an entire look, an entire feel, an entire moment. It’s always so clearly coordinated and curated, from the hair to the makeup to the jewelry to the shots – all in service to making the dress look that much better. She looks stunning and other-worldly, which is exactly how she should be looking for this event.
