The stars of Impeachment: American Crime Story came out to celebrate the series premiere and give us an excuse to judge their clothing choices. We have a review of the series coming up soon, but suffice it to say, people are gonna have some thoughts on this one. Then again, it was designed to do just that.
Annaleigh Ashford in Sebastian Gunawan
An event like this is normally semi-casual as far as red carpets go, but we kinda love that she really just went for it here. It’s a cute, exuberant look. We don’t love tiered dresses and we think the neck situation is way too fussy, but it suits her and we love the shoes.
Beanie Feldstein in Brandon Maxwell
Beanie (who’s great as Monica Lewinsky, by the way) looks really cute here, but those shoes seem like a bit much for a relatively sweet day dress. We don’t know… should we be reading into the print being a bunch of lips? Is that cheeky?
Billy Eichner
The jacket’s a little snug but this is a cute semi-cazh look. He’s great as Matt Drudge.
Blair Underwood
That jacket/footwear combo is pure DadStyle.
Clive Owen
That suit is pure Prince of Wales. Why he’s not playing Prince Charles in the next season of The Crown eludes us. Instead, he submitted to ten pounds of prosthetics to play an eerie, ghostly (surprisingly good) Bill Clinton.
Cobie Smulders in Max Mara
A sharp, classic, can’t-go-wrong look. She’s making it sing, but something like this could easily come off too generic on a red carpet.
Colin Hanks
Great color. Button up the shirt and put on a new pair of shoes, please.
Elizabeth Reaser in The Vampire’s Wife
We’re so used to these dresses now. Yes, it all looks like 50-year-old bedsheets turned into a compound wife dress, but apparently, that’s what some ladystars go for these days.
Sarah Paulson in Alexandre Vauthier Couture
Hunh. We don’t know what we expected, but it wasn’t that. It’s a nice enough dress, but it doesn’t have that big, space-taking, high-impact feel so much of her promotional wear does. Instead of space-taking it just looks like it’s a little large on her.
Taran Killam
It’s a cute semi-casual summer menswear look. We just think the black dress shoes are the wrong choice. White kicks would’ve been perfect.
