We can look at this one of two ways. One perspective holds that Mindy Kaling, who spent the entire pandemic serving nearly daily looks on the ‘gram in her backyard, is just exceedingly good at matching the right outfit with the right event/backdrop/vibe. The second perspective maintains that super-twee girly looks are so clearly her preferred style that she’d have shown up in this look regardless of what the vibe or backdrop was.
But there’s a third way of looking at it: That Never Have I Ever is so branded to her (as the show’s creator), that all of this is just a really savvy and well-coordinated photo op that perfectly delivers a very Kaling-esque vibe.
Whatever view you take, she looks really cute and it’s a great little frock.
