We’re starting to realize that Gemma Chan has a super-power. She can make some fairly tricksy frocks look like chic minimalism. That purple David Koma number from the other day got sillier the longer we looked at it, but she never looked anything less than spectacular in it.

Girl, you had us until the hemline. The basic dress design is fairly simple and we have to admit that we’re not inclined to love the color or design even without the goofy hem situation. The textile looks too heavy and those straps really should be worn down, like the model in the look book. But let’s face it: that completely unnecessary and focus-pulling under-hem is inescapable. It almost doesn’t matter what the rest of the dress looks like. Or at least, that would be the case on a normal, mortal human wearer. Miss Gemma is some sort of celestial fashion savant and she makes everything she wears look amazing. She better wield this power responsibly, though. Otherwise, all the tackiest designers will be lining up to throw free merch at her.
