Darlings, do we like this? We’re asking for real.
She’s probably always at her style best when she’s working that vaguely retro old-school movie star sort of look. Grace Kelly-lite, as it were. But it feels like she’s been in something of a low-key style rut for a good while now, based on nothing but our own foggy memories and impressions. To be fair, like most stars, she didn’t have many opportunities to strut her style through all of last year, but we used to think of her as someone hovering at or near Cate Blanchett levels of stylishness and now we think of her as someone who mainly dresses to get the job done. Is that unfair of us? Are we bringing too much to the table when we say we find this largely underwhelming and forgettable? Isn’t that bodice looking unresolved and flimsy?
Again, we’re asking for real.
