We like to think we’ve been pretty vocal in our support, if not our outright pleading, for men who want to get away from business-style suiting in their promotional work. In truth, it’s been something of a crusade of ours over the years. There’s so much good, head-turning, photogenic menswear out there and there’s just no good reason for an artist or entertainer to be dressing like a lawyer.
On the other hand, sometimes you’ve just gotta recognize when a man is born to wear classic menswear. Hiddles, that’s your cue.

It’s not exciting or fashion forward. It’s photogenic only because he’s photogenic and has the proportions of a runway model. We would even go so far as to say that even on him, it’s still a dull design. But he is so perfectly suited to it (pun unintended) that we can’t really begrudge him for leaning into what works. We tend to think he may actually be somewhat limited in his options. We’re trying to picture him in a pink suit with white kicks and it’s just not working. If he tried to wear that D&G getup Colman Domingo sported the other day, he’d have been the joke of the day on social media. He could get away with something a bit more modern than this, but we don’t see him taking the kind of risks you see from Leslie Odom, Jr. or Timothee Chalamet, for instance. It just wouldn’t look right.
