And now, a rather too-obvious observation. But first, consider Miss Viola, serving you everything:

That is a pose that says yes, I damn sure belong on a pedestal right now. It’s a gorgeous dress, although we don’t think the squared-off shoulders work that well. It tends to give it a sci-fi costume feel that doesn’t seem to be the intent of the design. But the color looks stunning on her and we love the way the metallic trim was utilized. She looks powerful and beautiful in this and we’ve long suspected those are the qualities she wants to highlight most in her public style – and in that order.
Anyway, our rather banal observation is that this particular shade of green has been on-trend among the celebrity set all spring. We’ve seen it on Cynthia Erivo, Viola once before, Uzo Aduba, Mindy Kaling and Ashley Park in the last few weeks. Can anyone in the class tell us what all those ladies have in common and why that’s relevant to a discussion about who’s wearing what colors? It’s a gorgeous shade that photographs well and flatters a range of skin tones — with one exception. This is one of those purely vibrant hues that really does tend to look best when Black people or people of color wear it. Sure, maybe pale girls like Elle Fanning or Saoirse Ronan could give this shade a try but we would vehemently recommend against it, unless they like the idea of their face turning chartreuse when this bounces off their skin.
