And so we put another virtual awards show to bed. May it be one of the very last virtual awards shows of all time, no offense to any of the participants. On the contrary, we appreciated tremendously how much effort the stars put into their hotel suite or backyard ensembles. For the most part, everyone treated the SAGs like the pre-Oscars they’ve always been, which was something of a comfort to us. Although we didn’t give the following stars their own spotlight posts, even the SAG Awards leftover looks were of fairly high quality across the board. Well done, everyone.

But we have some notes.

Carey Mulligan in Prada

We’re afraid we just don’t share her love of styles that are so low-key, they come off barely more generic. We can understand not wanting the fuss or not loving attention-seeking pieces, but this is just completely forgettable.

Cynthia Erivo in Alexander McQueen

It’s a surprisingly plain gown considering how much eye-popping fashion has been coming from her lately. We guess she ran out of options. Or maybe she just wanted to tone things down for a night. We realize the combat boots/dress trend is already starting to feel played out among celebs, but given the times and the weirdness of putting on high fashion and staying home, we suppose we should let it play out a little longer.

Daisy Ridley in David Koma

Fairly simple look, but that’s not a crime in this virtual red carpet time. Looks a little “Office Holiday Party,” though. Maybe it’s the sheer tights.

Florence Hunt in RED Valentino

That’s a fairly sophisticated dress for a 14-year-old, but it looks very pretty on her. The Bridgerton girls came in high romantic style, which is a smart move for the less central members of the cast.

Kathryn Drysdale in Jenny Packham

Like so. High romance in the confectionary aesthetic style of Bridgerton itself. This is a lot of dress, but she looks gorgeous in it.

Mindy Kaling in Alex Perry

It’s dramatic and the color looks amazing on her but we could swear we’ve seen her in this a couple of times before.

Nicola Coughlan in Christian Siriano

She seems to really love these big, floofly, vaguely goth sort of gowns. It’s a really fun look on her.

Rhea Seehorn in Greta Constantine

There’s tooo much of a mismatch between the whites and we don’t think the chartreuse pumps were the way to go, but we love this for being so odd and unexpected a look.

Sarah Levy in Monique Lhuillier

It’s simple to the point of basic, but the color looks amazing on her and we love the earrings. There’s a difference between low-key generic and low-key chic.

Vanessa Kirby in Givenchy Couture

She has a somewhat distinct “’80s Revlon ad” sort of style that suits her perfectly, but aside from the silver mesh top, looks like these don’t make the most memorable photographs.

Zosia Mamet in Miu Miu

Why Miss Zosia. We do believe this is a personal best.
